We are all used to seeing ordinary cabinets made of different types of wood and plywood, but the collection we present today is not! Designer Alain Gilles created the Frame sideboard collection for the Italian manufacturer Bonaldo. These cabinets will catch your eye!
The Frame sideboard collection uses a metal structure as the basic framework to build a sideboard: it supports the internal boards that can be slided in. So it’s not just about design, it’s about a more architectural principle. The sidewalls and top panel are then applied to the structure leaving a gap along all edges to expose the structure. The metal structure is not only made up of the bones but is also visible and adds to the appearance of the sideboard. There is a contrast between metal and wood and sometimes marble on top.
The edges of the supporting structure are visible through small chamfers and large rounded gaps. These rounded corners are a distinctive feature of the collection. Another chic idea implemented in these sideboards is the use of contrasting colors and finishes between the different elements, making the furniture look more modern and angular. Get inspired!
