A closet is more commonly a small or even tiny space – modern homes don’t have space for what’s particularly necessary, like a bathroom or home office. So there is literally no place to store things. How to create and organize a small closet if you don’t have a lot of space for it? Here are some ideas.
Makeshift closets
A makeshift closet is an open closet concept that can be placed anywhere – most often in bedrooms, for obvious reasons. You simply set up a rack for hangers, attach an open shelf if you like and put a chest of drawers next to it and voila – here’s your closet! Such a concept is popular with very small homes, and for those who love their clothes and shoes, they double as decor – you show off your favorite pieces by showing them off at their best.
Small closets
A small closet can be built into your bedroom, home office or any other space. It can be a separate corner, which you separate with a sliding door or just with a regular door. Decide what’s important: more hanger holders or more open shelves and drawers, and design your space accordingly. Don’t forget that drawers are a must for any closet anyway – you need them for small items like lingerie. Think about where you put your shoes – on shelves, on a shoe rack, on pegs on the wall or elsewhere – and think about your bags too. To make your stuff more visible and your closet brighter, add as many lights as you can and mount them on the wall or put a large mirror on the floor. Your small closet can still have a design and a style and you can express this with different accessories, with the color or stain of the storage units, the lights and your stool or ottoman. Enjoy!
