In 1959 Bodil Kjær created a wide range of modern furniture suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Now, almost six decades later, Carl Hansen & Son has added the Danish architect’s indoor-outdoor series to its collection.
The indoor-outdoor series is made of teak and was originally developed for the American market. It consists of a lounge chair, a small table, a dining table, a dining table, a two-seater lounge sofa, a rocking sofa and a sun lounger. Previous representations in the collection were made of mahogany, teak and ash. Each piece is made from quality materials and superior craftsmanship, allowing the collection to withstand Danish-style weather conditions such as direct sunlight, rain, fog and wind.
The BK14 sunlounger is sleek and streamlined, yet reassuringly sturdy. It’s just as appealing to look at as it is to lie down. Like the rest of the collection, the sunbed’s solid teak construction has a simple geometric quality and is designed to weather beautifully over time. Complementary cushions made from weather-resistant Sunbrella material are also available, offering elegant relaxation with optimal comfort. The BK11 lounge chair has a linear shape influenced by cubism. The chair’s solid teak construction is designed to patina beautifully with age and use. The result of the professional workmanship is an inclined seat and backrest with armrests, legs and runners that are joined to form two squares.
