David Friedlander and Jacqueline Schmidt’s 700-square-foot Brooklyn apartment is full of chic ideas and stylish pieces, plus a surprisingly spacious pantry. Architect David Bucovy transformed a traditional kitchen into a minimalist galley design that looks harmonious and peaceful. The backsplash and countertop are made of marble and the kitchen cabinets are made of Ikea’s Applåd cabinets. There is a lot of white which is characteristic of the minimalist style and which also makes this small kitchen look bigger. I love wooden bowls, marble bowls and porcelain trays with wooden lids – they bring zen into the room and make every meal a ritual.
