There are some design trends whose popularity remains unbroken: wooden floors, white walls and woodwork, for example. Is there anything else to add to this list? Shaker style furniture. But this year the Shaker style seems to be leaving us, and we’re finally seeing a new trend for kitchen cabinets – fluted profiles!
Fluted cabinets are characterized by their textured fronts and often combine the best parts of the millwork with a shaker cabinet profile, except instead of being left empty and bare, the panel inserted is filled with ribbed pieces of wood that look like a few dowels glued on it. Fluted cabinets also pair well with classic shaker cabinets, so you can create a more striking look with either type of cabinet and save a lot of money by refacing just a portion of it. And now question:
How do you achieve a ridged look?
There are different types of fluting you can choose for your kitchen island, from individually applied curved pieces made of plaster and stone to simple wooden slats and even sophisticated fluted lacquer effects. Choose the style you like best and you’ll have a kitchen heart that you won’t be able to resist showing off.
