Historic Savannah Cottage

Historic Savannah Cottage

This small house in Savannah, Georgia is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built 200 years ago by John Ballon, a “free man of colour”. Freeman’s Cottage is located between Warren and Washington Places and has a picturesque garden patio.

The full bath has a walk-in shower and a large wooden vanity. The master bedroom is upstairs and has a queen-size bed to relax in after a busy day of exploring. The beams in the upstairs bedroom loft are all hand numbered and long enough to know placement during construction. The furniture here is a nice mix of modern and vintage, creating a cozy vibe.

The beautiful wood in the living area makes the space warm and inviting. The living room also has vintage furniture – a sofa, a couple of chairs, lamps, side tables and artwork. The room is flooded with light and opens onto the kitchen which showcases a beautiful original fireplace. The kitchen is light blue with stained wood cabinets and every new appliance you can think of – comfort is paramount here. The small dining area is set against a glass wall and offers the best view of the secluded private patio. Here you will also see an elegant working fireplace with a metal screen.
